Indian Education
The Indian Education program at Puyallup was established in 1973, and is funded by the Department of Education (Title VII, Office of Indian Education) and the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA).
The Indian Education program serves 225 students representing 54 Native American tribes, bands, and corporations in the Puyallup School District and continues to grow. The top five tribes represented among Puyallup students are:
- Puyallup
- Cherokee
- Chippewa
- Choctaw
- Alaska Native
Services and events
The Indian Education program supports academics and high school completion. The following are examples of ways the program can help students:
- Help with student fees and supplies
- Credit recovery help
- Scientific calculator loans
- Leadership development opportunities
Parent Advisory Committee
The Indian Education Parent Advisory Committee meets 5:30-7:00 pm at the Karshner Museum according to the following schedule:
