Special Services & Programs

Services and Programs

The following lists the various services and programs provided through Puyallup School District Special Services.

  • TITLE I/Learning Assistance Program. Provides supplemental services in reading, writing, or mathematics to struggling students.
  • ELL PROGRAM. Provides language acquisition instruction for English Language Learners.
  • HEALTH SERVICES SUPPORT. Provides services to students having medical or health-related concerns. Currently our staff includes Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nurse Assistants.
  • SPECIAL EDUCATION. Provides a full continuum of services for students with disabilities, ages 3-21 within an appropriate, individualized program for each student in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).

  • Audiology

Programs and services for students with disabilities

Puyallup School District maintains a wide array of specialized programs and services to support students with disabilities.

  • Building Resource Support. Individualized instructional support is available at every school.
  • Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Separate classes for students with hearing impairments.
  • Developmental Kindergarten. Separate classes for kindergarten-age students with a variety of developmental issues.
  • EXCEL (orthopedic). Separate classes for students with severe and profound disabilities as well as medically fragile students.
  • KITE (Kids in Therapeutic Education). Separate classes for students with emotional or behavior disabilities.
  • Support Center. Separate classes for students whose instructional needs are greater than can be provided in the general education classroom.
  • Vision/Orientation and Mobility. Specialized instruction for visually impaired students.
  • WRAP (Waller Road Autism Program). Separate classes for students with Autism spectrum disorders.
  • Health Services. Services provided at all buildings with a combination of nurses and health technicians.
  • 504/ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Monitors and supports the provision of accommodations in order for qualified students to access the general education curriculum.
