World Language Credit
• 2 credits (years) of the same world language is now required for graduation. Did you know that President Bush (41) declared American Sign Language an official National Foreign Language back in 1989?
• Washington State law requires that ALL state-sponsored colleges and universities accept ASL as fulfilment of their World Language entrance requirements. Most states have similar laws.
• Two private Washington colleges (Gonzaga and St. Martin’s) do not accept ASL as fulfilment at their schools.

Occupational Credit
• Not only does ASL satisfy World Language Credit for graduation, but it also satisfies the Occupational Credit that is also required for high school graduation*. Taking ASL satisfies BOTH at the same time!
• ASL is the only high school language that also counts for Occupational Credit.
*Currently, 1 credit (year) of Occupational Credit is required for PSD graduation. ASL can satisfy this!
College (Dual) Credit
• ASL is the only language option where students can earn 5 college credits for each year they take it (ASL-1 thru ASL-3)...
That’s 15 college credits!
• These credits are offered through Seattle Central College. This does not mean students have to attend this college. Students who earn college credit for ASL can have those credits transferred to whatever college or university they decide to attend.
