It was a beautiful weekend for students and families to attend the Washington State Spring Fair. For more than 10 years the Puyallup School District, in partnership with the Washington State Fair, has provided the opportunity for students to showcase their accomplishments and talent in several different venues throughout the Spring Fair.

More than 1,000 Students from across the district had their artwork and writing honoring culture displayed in the Showplex. At the same time student musicians and other student performers entertained the crowd throughout the day at the Coca-Cola stage.

Stage performances featured more than 400 students in groups and as individuals singing, dancing, drumming, and variety act presentations. Performances included hula dances, American Sign Language song interpretations, and much more.

Art pieces ranged from visual art to poetry, and many of the student artists were on hand to explain their work to friends, family, and guests.

Each year, the artwork entered into the exhibit is based on culturally-relevant curriculum and projects.

Across the fairgrounds at the Pavilion, students took part in the Science,Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) showcase. Students were awarded in four categories: Scientific Practices, Inventions, Technology, and Reverse Engineering. Individuals or teams were awarded Best In Show based on a grade level band. Over 500 entries were submitted and 85 awards were presented.

For the first time the annual Vesey-Munson Art Show was held at the Spring Fair. The decision to move the art show from the Karshner Museum and Center for Culture & Arts to the fair was to increase student participation and public exposure to student achievement in the arts. The student artwork was selected by local artists and represented various grades.

The Spring Fair continues to be an excellent opportunity to celebrate and honor the achievements of the students and celebrate the tradition of excellence in the Puyallup School District.

Congratulations to all the students who participated.
