With nearly 700 parents and students crowding the room, the Post High Planning Night proved to be a huge success.

Sponsored by the Puyallup School District in partnership with Pierce College, the event was designed to engage students and families with college, university, and military representatives. The purpose – to provide students with a smooth transition from their public school career to “next steps” following graduation.

“The Pierce College venue was definitely energized,” said event organizer and Emerald Ridge High School Counselor Dave Rosdahl. “We couldn’t pull this off without the Pierce College partnership and work from the committee.”

While this event was open to all families, secondary students and their families were strongly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to speak with knowledgeable representatives on hand. Presenters shared information to help students and their families prepare for life after high school graduation.

Local and national public and private colleges, universities, vocational and technical schools were represented, as well as the armed forces and apprenticeship training programs.

“Providing opportunities like the Post High Planning Night definitely demonstrates our district’s commitment to post high educational endeavors,” said Rosdahl. “Our partnership with these institutions ensures that as students transition from the Puyallup School District, they do so successfully.”
