Nearly 23,000 students welcomed as the new school year begins

You can feel the excitement in the air. Friday night football games at Sparks Stadium. The Washington State Fair is in full swing. Beautiful sunrises over Mount Rainier. The weather is getting cooler and the leaves on trees are beginning to change.

And nearly 23,000 students returned to Puyallup Schools the first week in September.

Buses were ready to transport them to school, administrators and educators were on hand to welcome both new and returning students, and Food and Nutrition Services were ready to serve 15,000 lunches each day.

Staff began preparing in August for the new school year with meetings and professional development activities. There are more than 125 new teachers in the district who went through orientation and specialized training.

Welcome back students, staff, and families!
